The Department aims to preserve the Indian culture and ethics by disseminating the knowledge of Sanskrit language among the youth. Several research works have been carried out by the faculty and scholars to demystify the language and to establish its connection with the contemporary language. The Department of Sanskrit aims to train students who are oriented towards research and teaching in advanced areas of Vedanta, Nyaya, Yoga and Sahitya. A Centre for Simple Sanskrit Speaking, sponsored by the UGC, is attached to this Department.
